Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Police say they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The liquid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Police then located multiple other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state initial examinations show the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; investigators are currently not aware of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials said they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for details.
An important representative commented the incident made him speechless and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This event affects the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on online, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
